Invocation of My Demon Brother

Posted : 16 years, 5 months ago on 8 November 2007 03:20 (A review of Invocation of My Demon Brother)

The film is a mixture of things, combining footage from a 1967 Equinox celebration, living portraits of nude men and a young albino, staged tableaux-scenes as well as a few clips from the 1969 Rolling Stones gig in Hyde Park.
Unlike mentioned in the cast credits, Brian Jones does not appear in the film. Mick Jagger composed the soundtrack which sounds very modern and fits into the film very nicely.
The film starts slowly and then little by little leads the viewer into a frenzied mass, conducted by Mr Anger himself, pacing about manically in a large room where liquid forms are being projected to the walls. The camera work is very shaky at times, but perhaps this is intentional.
In between the Equinox mass and the Hyde park footage, there is plenty of experimental material featuring both men and women, closeups of eyes and tattoos.

(EDIT:)
I found an online article with some details about the film from Bobby Beausoleil's point of view. Have a look : [Link removed - login to see]
